Gnomes and Witches and Pancakes

When I was little I used to read the Dorrie books—Dorrie the little witch, who always wore mismatched socks. And a recent trip to the Chinatown library, where I used to get those books from and which I hadn't gone to in years, sparked the idea to look them up and read them again just for fun. I don't really remember the stories, but when I found this one, it felt familiar—something about it.

So I read it yesterday and it is just the cutest story! No wonder I used to love this! I'm not going to give away the plot, but at the end of the story, all the witches and wizards have a slumber party—look, they're all sleeping in the living room! So cute!

And then they have pancakes the next day—how awesome is that, haha!

I just had to share these pictures—they are so adorable. Especially the one with the witches sleeping everywhere, hee hee!

It's so funny to me, thinking back, because I've always been interested in magic and witches and fantasy worlds and things like that. I mean, I'm a fanatic now because of what I know about Spirit and Non-physical and all that. But even back then, I was so into and open to this stuff, and way beyond childhood, too. I remember the first time I saw the Gnomes book in the bookstore in college and I looked through it, fascinated that there are little people like that. And I believed it. I even flipped through the front and back pages several times trying to find the place that says it's a book of fiction, but I couldn't find it. And I walked out of the bookstore in a sort of daze that there might be things that exist that people don't really know about. But later, I decided the idea was silly and it must be just a fun book, not real, and I teased myself for years with other people for believing in gnomes, even if just for a few minutes while flipping through that book.

Imagine what a relief it's been, and how wonderful, full of wonder, life is for me, now that I know all that stuff really is real! I don't have to talk myself out of believing in them. All the fantasy things that I used to read about and daydream about and love so much—they're all real. I feel like I'm ten. Well, I've never not felt ten, but now I can be open about it, haha!

Gnomes and witches and pancakes—life is full of wonder.
