Songwriting with OMD

OMG, OMD! These guys are soooo adorable! Is it weird to develop a crush on people from over 20 years ago?

I found this documentary they did of their album CRUSH with these lovely songs that I like so much and you just have to watch this. It has everything interesting to me—cute boys, songwriting, awesome music, fun, fun, fun! And doesn't the guy with the trombone look like Matt Damon?

I love watching them talk and interact and just the whole recording process—big smile!

Sweet Paul—cute, sweet, cute!

I have no idea what they're saying sometimes, hahaha! I need subtitles—especially for the Malcolm guy!

I love hearing about how they get their ideas and about their history—how they didn't even know they were writing pop music till after the fact. I read somewhere amidst all this research that they're self-taught musicians, neither one of them knows how to read music and they have their own notation style—that's so awesome. Very inspirational.

So good! I love it, I love it, I love it! Let's watch it again!

So in Love with OMD

Monday night's OMD concert was amazing. The energy was so high and so good, I was smiling happy through the entire performance. I immediately liked the band members because they were funny and playful. The lead singer Andy McCluskey danced and danced in his weird, crazy and totally uninhibited flailing of arms and legs and rhythm - I loved it!

There were a couple of moments between songs when the band just paused to soak it all in, and the applause from the audience grew louder and bigger and swelled to such a high level of joy and love and cheer—it was palpable, and my heart was open wide.

I came home that night and reveled in that state of happy openheartedness and that feeling of being in love. Not so much with anybody or anything in particular—the music, yeah—but really just that state of being, open with love flowing through. And I recognized that this is how I, or anybody, people, am supposed to feel naturally. This is the natural state of Source. Source is Love. I am Love. For no reason. I just am.

and mmmph! Hahahaha!

I know these songs are about unrequited love and heartbreak, but the music itself just makes me so happy and feel so in love. I've been floating on Cloud 9 with these songs in my head, in my heart. I will share them with you here. Enjoy and have a fabulous hump day!
