I am thankful for my Source.
I am thankful for my magic.
I am thankful for the beautiful sunshine on this Thanksgiving Day.
I am thankful for Whole Foods being open till 2 p.m. today.
I am thankful for leftover pancake and syrup and homemade jam from Mama's yesterday. The waitress was so nice—I asked for a small box for the half a pancake and she asked if I wanted syrup and the homemade jam to go, too. They'd never asked that before! So I was like, all right! And she gave me these little containers and I just poured in the syrup and spooned in the jam, because why not?
I am thankful for the Muppets tonight.
I am thankful for winning Bingo (twice!) and Bingo machines (3 times!) and an internet contest.
I am thankful for my new North Face HyVent coat that didn't fit my mom and fits me perfectly so I got to keep it, that's "highly durable and resilient after endless use" and "is suitable for cold-weather expeditions and day-to-day rigors." It was perfect for this morning's rainy trek to the Indigenous Peeps thing on Alcatraz. With my trusty umbrella that I just happened to fix the day before rain started this season (there are no coincidences) and this coat, I was fairly dry, but by the time we got back, GG got soaked through 4 layers of clothing! Haha! It was funny.
I am thankful for free postcards and mailing of postcards at the Jewish museum.
I am thankful for the free VIP pass to the auto show where I came upon a HUGE turkey leg at one of the carving stations.
I exclaimed gleefully, "Turkey leg!"—I do love my dark meat.
The carving lady asked, "Do you want it?"
"Really?"
"Yeah. In fact, I have another one down here." She gestured under the table.
The leg was like a foot long and my plate was half the size. I loved that the Universe was so funny and so generous. I looked over at GG and asked him if he wanted the turkey leg, and he said, "Sure! I'll take it!"
So he took it and the lady busted out the other turkey leg from under the table, and I asked her, "Can you cut off some of the meat for me?" and oh my god, she was so nice! She was all, "Sure! Then you don't have to go all Fred Flintstone on it." Hahaha! When she finished carving off the dark meat for me, I was going to pick just a couple of pieces of white meat off the serving plate for the variety of it, and she said, "Oh, here, let me give you these pieces that are already cut up," and she scooped up all the pieces from the chopping board and piled it on my little plate. I had a mountain of turkey, on top of the other meats from the other carving stations!
GG and I were laughing as we ate, because the abundance of turkey was so ridiculous. "I have hella turkey havingness," he said, and it's true! Because he'd just won a turkey at Bingo two days before! Anyway, I'm thankful for all of that happiness and havingness.
I'm heading out for my Thanksgiving Muppets evening now. Have a wonderful thankful Happy Gobbly Day, everybody!
And oh yeah, I am thankful for
Jerry Hicks.
